The No. 5 Nebraska rifle team returns home this Saturday to face No. 9 Memphis at the NU Rifle Range. The Huskers are on a roll, having won their last two matches against Navy and UT-Martin.
"We are excited to be hosting Memphis this weekend. We have changed our training this weekend to be more mentally tough in air rifle. If we compete the way we trained this week I believe we will improve our home qualifying number," Coach Underwood said.
Sophomore Denise Martin and freshman Rachel Martin have been outstanding for the Huskers, making the Top 20 Smallbore Scores List every week. Both will be expected to have strong performances this weekend.
The Tigers are coming off a bye week after losing to Kentucky on Oct. 27.
The last time that Memphis faced Nebraska in the regular season was on Jan. 15, 2012. The Huskers lost to the Tigers by only 24 points, which means Saturday's match should be an intense competition.
"Memphis will be a challenging team to compete against. They have had some good scores and have been a top 15 team all year. Our job is to focus on ourselves and remain disciplined in our process," Coach Underwood said.
The match is set to begin at 8 a.m.
