Nebraska Adds Two New Recruits for 2014-15
The Nebraska men's tennis team added two new recruits to its lineup for the 2014-15 season. The two recruits that committed their future to the Huskers are Linus Erhart and Chris Hobgarski who signed their National Letters of Intent for the Scarlet and Cream. With the team losing three senior after the 2013-14 campaign, the Big Red is looking to boost its roster with the new addititon.
Linus Erhart is a native of Lustenau, Austria who is an incoming freshman and has been ranked ranked in the top four of all juniors in Austria from age ten through 18. Erhart's best Under 16s European Singles Ranking peaked at No. 35.
Chris Hobgarski is a native of Sankt Wendell, Gemany who is also an incoming freshman and has been ranked as high as No. 1,644 on the Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP) circuit.
Nebraska Head Coach Kerry McDermott and his staff are excited about the incoming players and are ready to get them training when they arrive in Lincoln.
"We, as coaches, really like the fact that these two guys have not only great talent and maturity coming into our program, but the fact that they also have vast international experience playing all over the world," McDermott said. "They have played in countries such as: Luxembourg, Switzerland, Germany, Belgium, the Czech Republic, Slovenia, Bulgaria, and Kenya. As coaches, we feel these guys address the needs that our team needs to be more competitive within the Big Ten Conference and In the National Rankings. The Big Ten is probably one of the top three or four conferences in the country. To compete at that level, we need players such as Linus and Chris who can come in right away and make a difference for our team. With the addition of the new tennis facility being built and Linus and Chris coming into the program we feel really good about the direction of our team and Nebraska tennis next year and the years to come."
