Dickson Seeks Top 10 in South Carolina

Aiken, S.C. – Junior Ross Dickson is tied for 10th heading into the final round of the Cleveland Golf Palmetto Intercollegiate after shooting 5-over-par 145 over two rounds on Monday.

The Huskers are in 17th place after posting scores of 296 and 308 at the Palmetto Golf Club, a par-70, 6,617-yard layout. Clemson leads the team race after firing 571 over the first 36 holes.

Dickson opened with an even-par 70 before carding 75 in the second round. Dickson, the lone Husker to play in every tournament this season, is seeking his first top-10 finish of the 2013-14 campaign. His best was a tie for 13th at the Firestone Invitational in October. Dickson trails tournament leader Austin Langdale of Clemson by seven strokes heading into Tuesday’s final round.

Senior Matt Record brought in the second-best NU score on Monday, shooting 149 over two rounds. Fresh off his best performance of the season, Record opened the Palmetto Intercollegiate with 3-over-par 73 before adding 76 in the second round. He is currently tied for 42nd, seeking to improve on his tie for 31st in NU’s last outing.

Mike Siwa, making his fifth consecutive start of the season, showed improvement from the first round to the second round on Monday. The senior opened with 10-over-par 80 before producing 4-over-par 74 for a 36-hole total of 154. Siwa is tied for 65th with 18 holes to play. His best finish was 59th place in El Paso, Texas in October.

Justin Jennings is in 81st place after the first day of action in South Carolina. Jennings, a freshman, shot 159 over two rounds, opening with 76 before posting 83 in the second round. The Palmetto Intercollegiate marks his seventh start of the season.

Calvin Freeman, also making his seventh start, carded 77 and 87 on Monday. His 164 total puts him in a tie for 86th.

The final round of the Cleveland Golf Palmetto Intercollegiate begins on Tuesday at 7:30 a.m. CT. Final results and recap will be available on Huskers.com at the conclusion of the tournament.
