Three Signees Commit to Huskers in 2013-14

The Huskers lose four senior players concluding the 2013 season but have high hopes of continued excellence for the future with three signees joining the Nebraska ranks in the 2013-14 season. These additions come in the form of Brittany Brewster, Mary Hanna, and Katerina Matysova.

A five star recruit from Saline, Mich., Hanna is expected to be a solid player for the Huskers. Hanna has achieved a ranking as high as fifth in the Midwest as well as being the No. 6 overall recruit from the Midwest. Hanna emerged victorious in doubles at the Midwest Open this year as well as contending as a finalist in doubles at the Midwest Closed in 2011. Hanna boasts first team all-state for three years heading into her senior year of high school tennis.

Brewster, hailing from Austin, Texas, plays for Lake Travis High School where she's claimed various achievements and titles at the 4A level. Among Brewster's accolades are singles District, Regional, and State champion leading her team to be District and Regional Champions and second place at State. Beyond her high school play, Brewster is a USTA National Girl's 16s Doubles Champion, 18s Doubles second place finisher, and 18s Singles fourth place finalist on the way to a USTA Junior Tennis 18s Team National Champions finish this year. Brewster is a member of the Fed Cup Team, a Prince Cup Team Champion, and the CATA Female Player of the Year. Brewster is a five time recipient of the Nancy Jeffett Sportsmanship Award. Brewster is also as dedicated off the court achieving Academic All-District honors.

Matysova, an international signee from Erding, Germany, has been successful on the court from a young age. Matysova won a Regional Championship Under 21 at the tender age of 13 going on to reach her highest TE U16 ranking of No. 11 at the age of 14. In January 2011, Matysova won an ITF tournament in Poland. Matysova's highest national ranking at No. 97 in her 2011-12 season. Matysova attained her highest ITF ranking in 2011 at No. 384.

Assistant Coach Hayden Perez looks optimistically foward to the recruits joining Nebraska, believing they will all be huge contributions to the team.

"We are very excited about this year's signees," Coach Perez said, "each individual will be a great fit for our program. Brittany, Mary, and Katerina all have the character and values that we look for in future Huskers and they will all make an immediate impact on the team. It will be an honor for Coach Jacobson and I to work with them and I know our current team members will welcome them with open arms! Go Big Red!"
