The Nebraska cross country team competed at the Big Ten Championships Sunday morning in West Lafayette, Ind. The men’s team finished 11th out of 11 teams, while the women’s team finished 11th out of 12 teams. Even with the results, Head Coach Dave Harris was proud of the team’s effort in the conference championships.

“The accomplishment of the day was the women’s team beat a team. They really—I thought ran pretty well.” Harris said, “I thought that we competed really well, we had Anna (Peer) out in front as our number one runner ad she did a good job today. All in all, I think our women did a pretty good job today.”

As Harris noted, Peer, a freshman, was one of the more bright spots for the Nebraska cross country team. Anna finished 50th overall, running a time of 22:16.8 (6k), leading the slightly inexperienced group of Husker women’s runners.

Also performing at a high level for the Huskers was senior Isabel Andrade. Andrade, a California native, placed 58th overall with a time of 22:26.0.

On the men’s side, freshman Joe Harter led the youthful group of Husker men’s runners, placing 62nd overall with a time of 25:37.1 (8k). Harter just beat out senior Jarren Heng, who finished 65th with a time of 25:40.6.

The Nebraska cross country team will be back in action Friday Nov. 15, at the NCAA Midwest Regional in Ames, Iowa. Races begin at 11 a.m. (central) Check back here at Huskers.com for updates throughout the week.
