The Nebraska men’s tennis team completed its third day of competition at the Gophers Invitational held in Minneapolis, Minn., on Saturday. NU competed in a total of 23 matches against Dartmouth University and Drake University, winning a total of eight in competition today.
In singles play, NU’s Brandon Videtich defeated Drake’s Grant Tesmer 3-6, 6-2, 10-5, while Scott Elsass defeated Drake’s Ryan Drake 6-3, 6-2 after a loss in his first match of the day. Dusty Boyer also rebounded after a loss with a victory against Xander Centenario of Dartmouth 7-6, 6-3. Junior Sebastian Florczyk also regained momentum winning his second match of the day against Sam Todd of Dartmouth, 6-4, 6-1.
In doubles play, the Husker duo of Florczyk and Hermann defeated Drake’s Robin Goodman and Jean Erasmus 8-6. NU’s pair of Elsass and Videtich knocked off Drake’s duo of Ryan Drake and Ben Mullins 8-5, while the Husker team of Boyer and Stenger beat Dartmouth's duo of Centenario and Tannenbaum 8-4. Last but not least, the Husker pair of Florczyk and Herrmann notched a victory against Ghorbani and Todd of Dartmouth, 8-5.
