Columbus, Ohio - The Nebraska women's golf team heads into Sunday's final round of the Lady Buckeye Invitational in a tie for ninth in a 12-team field after closing at 628 after the first two rounds on Saturday at the Scarlet Course.

Sophomore Cassie Deeg led the Huskers with back-to-back rounds of 77 to close the first day in a tie for 18th at 154. Deeg is just two strokes outside the top 10. Senior Steffi Neisen fired Nebraska's best individual round of the day with a second-round 76 to finish the second round in a tie for 31st at 157.

Fellow senior Katelyn Wright opened the day with NU's second-best 18-hole score of the first round with a 78, before settling for an 82 in the second round to tie for 44th at 160.

Sophomore Cassidy Stelzmiller opened her day with an 80, before adding an 83 in the second round to close the first 36 holes in a tie for 54th at 163.

Freshman Jordan Chael struggled with an opening-round 86, but battled back with a second-round 78 to help the Huskers post a 312 over the second 18 holes. She enters the final round tied with Husker sophomore Morgan Smejkal for 56th with a two-round total of 164.

Nebraska opened the day with a 316 in the six-count-four format on the par-72, 6,268-yard layout of the Scarlet Course. NU counted Deeg's 77, Wright's 78, Stelzmiller's 80 and Neisen's 81 in the opening round. In the second round, Neisen led the Huskers with a 76, while Deeg produced another 77, while Chael contributed a 78 and Smejkal managed an 81.

No. 42 Kent State leads the talented 12-team field with a two-round total of 597 (297-300), while the hosts from No. 31 Ohio State sits just four strokes back at 601 (303-298).  No. 24 Michigan State is 11 strokes behind Kent State at 608 (305-303), while Purdue and No. 39 Kansas are tied for fourth at 612.

Illinois and Toledo are tied for sixth at 622, just six strokes ahead of the Huskers and Texas Tech in a tie for ninth at 628.
