Neisen Fires Another Solid Round in Texas

San Antonio, Texas - Junior Steffi Neisen produced a three-over-par 75 for the second straight day to lead the Nebraska women's golf team at the Alamo Invitational at the Briggs Ranch Golf Club on Monday.

Neisen, a junior from New Prague, Minn., enters Tuesday's final round in a tie for 37th at 150 through 36 holes in the 78-player field. Neisen's 75 on the par-72, 6,428-yard layout at Briggs Ranch helped the Huskers to a second-round team score of 314. Nebraska closed the second round in 14th place in a 15-team field at 622.

Junior Katelyn Wright bounced back with a 77 on Monday to head to the final round in a tie for 68th at 158. True freshman Cassie Deeg settled for an 80 on Monday to slip to 63rd in the individual standings at 156.

Redshirt freshman Jackie O'Doherty contributed Nebraska's fourth score on Monday with an 82. She sits in 77th at 172 through 36 holes, while fellow redshirt freshman Morgan Smejkal managed an 84 in the second round to enter the final round in 72nd at 160.

Texas A&M's Sarah Beth Davis stormed to the top of the leaderboard with a four-under-par 68 on Monday after an opening-round 69. Davis heads into the final at seven-under-par (137) with a two-stroke lead over Louisville's Emily Haas (70-60-139), East Carolina's Nico Engstroem Skaug (72-67-139) and Oklahoma's Taylor Scmidt (68-71-139).

Oklahoma owns an eight-shot lead in the team race over Texas A&M. The Sooners fired a 284 to go along with an opening-round 279 to enter the final round at 563. The Aggies sit at 571 after a second-round 282. The hosts from UTSA climbed to third in the team standings at 573 after a 283 on Monday.

The Alamo Invitational concludes with the final round on Tuesday, beginning with a shotgun start at 8:30 a.m. Live scoring is available at GolfStat.com.
