Lincoln – University of Nebraska basketball players Brandon Ubel, Kye Kurkowski and Trevor Menke were recognized for their efforts in the classroom and on the court Wednesday, as they were named to the Academic All-Big Ten team.
This is the third straight year that Ubel has been chosen as an academic all-conference selection, as he was honored in 2011 by the Big 12 Conference before earning Big Ten honors each of the past two years. Ubel will graduate with a degree in broadcasting in May. Menke, who is a social science education major, and Kurkowski, who majors in agricultural engineering, are being honored for the second straight year as Academic All-Big Ten selections.
Ubel and Menke are among 39 men’s basketball players being honored by the Big Ten Conference. To be eligible for Academic All-Big Ten selection, student-athletes must be letterwinners who are in at least their second academic year at their institution and carry a cumulative grade-point average of 3.0 or higher.
