Huskers Unveil Renovated Locker Rooms

On Monday the Nebraska Track and Field team unveiled the latest facility renovations for the program at a ribbon cutting ceremony for the men's and women's locker rooms.

"We're very excited to have the opportunity to open this new locker room today," Head Coach Gary Pepin said. "We're appreciative that the administration felt like this was a big need and a worthy cause for us and I'm sure our athletes will appreciate it very, very much."

A 5,400 square foot renovation, the project totaled $180,000. The locker rooms were originally constructed in 1981 and had previously not received any updates before this project. Prior to the renovation, the floor was originally six separate rooms that were used in a variety of ways including hospitality, golf locker rooms and visiting team locker rooms. The original space dedicated to each men's and women's team was about 1,200 square feet. After the renovation, the men's and women's teams each have their own 2,700 square foot locker room and lounge.

New updates to the space include:

  • New flooring throughout
  • All walls painted
  • Ceiling tile
  • Lighting
  • Locker benches
  • New lockers with individual graphics
  • New kitchenette with granite counter top
  • New bathroom vanities with granite counter tops
  • Double door fridges with purified water spouts
  • Each lounge has two 60" plasma TV's
  • The locker rooms feature a Sonos sound system controllable by student-athletes phones with an APP
  • Feature wall in the locker room with recessed ceiling lighting
  • Booth study area
  • Booth lounge area with pendant lights
  • New lounge furniture
  • Updated women's showers
