The Nebraska bowling team finished fifth out of 16 teams at the Track Kat Klash in Huntsville, Texas, on Sunday. The Huskers finished the three-day event with a 10-3 overall record behind tournament champion and tournament host Sam Houston State.
Head Coach Bill Straub was impressed with the overall effort NU put forth during the tournament, gaining a lot of wins in a tough tournament.
“The postseason puts a lot of priority on the wins and losses,” Straub said. “To leave this event with a lot of good teams participating with 10 wins out of 13 is a good weekend. I wish it was more, but it is nice to leave town with 10.”
Sophomore Elise Bolton was the top finisher for the Huskers during the tournament, posting an average score of 204.6 per game. Bolton’s performance ranked 14th out of 100 total bowlers. Senior Kristi Mickelson was the second overall for the Huskers, finishing 16th individually with an average score of 203.2 per game.
The Nebraska bowling team will now enter winter break and will not return to competition until January 11, when the travel to the Midwinter Invitational held in Jonesboro, Ark.
