The No. 11 Nebraska men's gymnastics team took home its first conference honor this season when sophomore Grant Perdue captured the Big Ten Gymnast of the Week award. Perdue earned his first weekly conference honor of the season after earning the individual event titles on both floor exercise and vault last weekend during their senior night face off against Iowa and Minnesota.
Despite some struggles during past weeks, Perdue managed to put together a solid routine on floor during the Huskers' last home meet of the season. His performance earned him a 15.15 on floor, finishing 0.65 points higher than any other competitor on the event. The 2012 first team All-American on floor tied his best score on the event for the season, finishing with a score of 15.15 against Minnesota on Feb. 2.
Perdue's 15.25 on vault set a new career high for the sophomore, beating out the 15.15 that he earned when the Huskers faced the Golden Gophers in Minneapolis, Minn. The Houston, Texas, native finished the night 0.4 points above the three gymnasts who tied fro second.
The Huskers hit the road for the last meet of their regular season, traveling to Champaign, Ill., to face the No. 6 Illini. The meet, hosted in Illinois' Huff Hall, will begin at 4 p.m. CST and will feature live video and live stats. Stay tuned to Huskers.com for further updates on Nebraska men's gymnastics.
