Huskers Continue Progress in Week Two

Lincoln, Neb.- The Nebraska football team continued its 2013 spring practice on Wednesday afternoon. The team practiced in full pads for just over two hours in the Hawks Championship Center.

Head Coach Bo Pelini addressed the media after practice, focusing on the improvements he's seen on the practice field this week.

"I thought we had another good go today," Pelini said. "I saw a lot of progress out there. I like the way our guys have responded on Monday and today to how we practiced on Saturday. I think the light has gone on for some guys, our practice habits have improved, and our attention to detail has gotten better."

The Huskers will return to the practice field on Thursday evening for a scrimmage in their last practice before spring break. On Wednesday, Pelini discussed what the coaching staff's focus has been in the first half of spring practice.

"Our main goal has been to set a foundation and teach," Pelini said. "We have two groups - the experienced group and the younger guys. We're trying to get the experienced guys even better, and we're trying to bring the younger guys along. We just finished practice seven, and I've seen us make a big jump over the past few days. Tomorrow night we will scrimmage and see where they are, and then we will give them a good break to get their legs underneath them."

In past years the four-week spring practice schedule only allowed for one week of practice to be held before spring break. Pelini mentioned this year's change to two weeks of practice before spring break and the advice that he gave his players for keeping up over break.

"This is the first time we've had this schedule, but I think it's going to work out well," Pelini said. "I told them that after tomorrow night they can't forget about football for eight or nine days. If they just don't think about it, they'll be back to square one. They have to put some time in while they're on break so that when they come back they are ready to roll."

As previously noted, the Huskers will be back on the practice field on Thursday evening before taking a week off for spring break. Continue to check back to throughout the spring for all your spring football updates.
