NU Faces Michigan State for Big Ten First Round
The ninth-seeded No. 69 Huskers head to the Big Ten Tournament in East Lansing, Mich. where they face the host school Michigan State in the first round on Thursday, April 24 at 9 a.m. (CT). The Huskers sit at 12-14 overall, with a 3-8 mark in the Big Ten. The Huskers lost both matches last weekend to end the regular season with a 0-7 and 1-6 loss to Penn State and Ohio State, respectively.
In last season's Big Ten Tournament, Nebraska fell to the Spartans in the first round of the event 4-3 and will be looking for retribution on Thursday as they go head to head in the first round once again.
Huskers In The ITA National Rankings
Nebraska dropped to No. 69 in the ITA Top 75 after its double-loss weekend. The national ITA Top 75 rankings were released on Tuesday, April 22.
The Cornhuskers are one of ten Big Ten teams in the ITA Top 75. Nebraska is joined by No. 2 Ohio State, No. 12 Illinois, No. 24 Penn State, No. 32 Northwestern, No. 34 Purdue, No. 43 Michigan, No. 55 Minnesota, No. 61 Michigan State and No. 67 Indiana. Ohio State is the only Big Ten team in the top ten and they are joined by Illinois and Penn State to be the only three in the top 25. The Huskers are the tenth-highest ranked Big Ten team.
Sophomore Dusty Boyer remained in the ITA Singles Rankings this week, moving up one spot to No. 110 out of 125.
The Big Ten Tournament
The Big Ten Tournament is a prestigious and exciting event possessing some deep talent and top programs from around the nation. It displays excellence and is a fantastic preparation tool for the teams heading to the NCAA Tournament. Ten teams enter the bracket ranked in the top 75, with the charge led by regular season conference champions Ohio State on a perfect conference 11-0 record.
Tournament play begins on Thursday, April 24 at 9 a.m. (CT) from the Outdoor Varsity Tennis Center in East Lansing, Mich., home of the Michigan State Spartans. Quarterfinals take place on Friday, April 25 beginning at 9 a.m. The semifinals matches are set for Saturday, April 26 at 9 a.m. and 1 p.m. (CT) and the final match is set for Sunday, April 27 at 11 a.m. (CT). The Big Ten Network will air the Big Ten Championships on Thursday, May 8, at 6 p.m. (CT).

MSU was dropped from the Big Ten Tournament last season by a 4-0 loss to Minnesota in the quarterfinals. The Spartans are currently No. 61 in the ITA Top 75 with no ranked singles or doubles players. The two teams met earlier this season on Friday, March 28 that resulted in a 4-3 victory for the Spartans.
