With the start of the 2014 track and field indoor season just days away, the Nebraska men's track and field team received national recognition on Wednesday as they were ranked as the No. 5 men's indoor collegiate dual-meet team by Track and Field News.
Arkansas led the pre-season rankings, ahead of Texas and Texas A&M. Texas Tech and Nebraska rounded out the top five. Following the Huskers was LSU, Eastern Michigan, Akron, Kent State and Purdue.
In the Midwest/Mountain/West Region, the men are ranked second and the women are first.
Teams are ranked according to wins and losses, strength and depth of schedule, and strength and breadth of marks. To be ranked, a team must compete in at least one dual (defined as a scored meet between four or fewer teams) during the indoor season.
