By NU Athletic Communications

The Nebraska rifle team fired a season high score of 2,316 in smallbore Saturday to help the team beat UT-Martin in the first away match of the season.

“I think the team did great today in our first road match. We needed to seize this opportunity of posting a good score for our qualification process,” Coach Underwood said.

The Huskers finished with a score of 2,339 in air rifle for a total of 4,655.  The team was led in both smallbore and air rifle by sophomore Denise Martin.  Martin shot a 587 in air rifle and a 584 in smallbore.

Freshmen Lauren Phillips and Rachel Martin also aided the Huskers.  Phillips ended with a 585 in air rifle and Martin finished with a 583 in smallbore.

UT-Martin was led by Nikki Kroll who logged a 561 in smallbore and a 574 in air rifle.  The Skyhawks finished with a 2,173 in smallbore and a 2,222 in air rifle for a team total of 4,395.
