Huskers Complete Action at Razorback Invitational

Fayetteville, Ark. - The Nebraska track and field team completed action at the Razorback Invitational on Saturday. After two days of competition, the Huskers came away with two event titles in the men's long jump and 3,000 meters. In the team standings, the men finished in third-place with 70 points and the women finished tied for ninth-place with 30 total points.

In the women's triple jump, Mara Griva and Anna Weigandt finished fourth and sixth, respectively. Griva, who finished third in the long jump yesterday, recorded a mark of 41-3 ¼ (12.58) and Weigandt posted a jump of 40-2 ¾ (12.26). Patrick Raedler finished fourth on the men's side, posting mark of 51-0 ¼ (15.55). Already holding the top mark in the event in the Big Ten, Raedler's jump was a season best. Devandrew Johnson recorded a personal-best jump of 47-8 (14.53) to finish 11th.

Veronica Grizzle rounded out the throws events for the Huskers on the weekend with an eighth-place finish in the women's weight throw. Grizzle recorded a throw of 58-1 ¾ (17.72). 

Tim Thompson finished eighth in the men's 60 meters with a time of 6.90. In the men's 60 meter hurdles, Oladapo Akinmoladun finished fifth with a time of 7.93, while Miles Ukaoma was seventh with a time of 8.12.

After winning the men's long jump yesterday, Janis Leitis finished second in the men's 400 meters with a personal-best time of 46.71, a time that also ranks first in the Big Ten and second in the nation.

Tommy Brinn finished second in the men's 800 meter invitational, posting a personal-best time of 1:49.11. His time is sixth in the Nebraska record books and is third in the Big Ten. 

London Hawk posted an eighth-place finish in the men's 800 meters with a personal-best time of 1:53.88, while Connor Gibson finished with a time of 1:55.07 and Nolan Border recorded a time of 1:55.19. Sarah Plambeck posted a personal-best time of 5:04.87 in the women's mile as Alney Tobias recorded a personal best time on the men's side with a time of 4:19.08.

In the women's 800 meters open, Jelena Andjelkovic finished third with a time of 2:13.33, while Shawnice Williams was fifth with a time of 2:17.18 and Morgan Woitzel finished sixth with a time of 2:17.24.

Trevor Vidlak won the men's 3,000 meters with a time of 8:11.58, a personal best for him. His time puts him at third in the Big Ten and ninth in the nation entering this weekend.

Jessica Furlan recorded a time of 9:24.76 in the women's 3,000 meters invitational, finishing sixth and setting a personal best. Her time is third in the Big Ten this year.

The women's 4x400 meter relay team of Kari Heck, Mila Andric, Shawnice Williams and Mara Weekes posted a seventh-place finish with a season-best time of 3:45.67. The men's squad of Ricco Hall, Dexter McKenzie, Cody Rush and Levi Gipson also finished seventh, recording a time of 3:15.26.

The Huskers return to the Devaney Center next weekend as they host the 38th annual Frank Sevigne Husker Invitational on Friday and Saturday.
