The No. 4 Nebraska rifle team begins post-season action this weekend when it travels to Murray, Ky. to compete in the NCAA Qualifiers on Feb. 23. The match is set to begin at 1 p.m.
The Huskers finished the regular season 10-2 and then had a bye week to prepare for the NCAA Qualifiers.
“It [the bye week] was a much needed rest both mentally and physically,” Coach Underwood said. “We came back to training this week recharged and ready to compete.”
Sunday’s total team score will only be part of the final qualifying score. The second part of the score will come from the average of the top three scores from the regular season, from three different locations. The average of these two scores will be the team’s total qualifying score. Nebraska must finish in the top 8 in order to qualify for the NCAA Championships.
“We head into qualifiers in good standing [being] in fourth place,” Underwood said. “I am excited for the weekend as this team continues to amaze me with the passion they have for competing. They have trained hard all year and are in the perfect place mentally to compete this weekend.”
