Husker Swimmers Gain Ground, Divers Finish Invite
Topeka, Kan. - Bria Deveaux won the 100-yard butterfly, Shannon Guy earned two top-four finishes and the Huskers drew within two-and-a-half points of second place at the Kansas Classic on Saturday. Nebraska finished day two in third place with a team score of 520.5, while Kansas (679.5) and Iowa State (523) held onto the top spots heading into the final day.
In the evening session's first event, Nebraska won the 200-yard medley relay. The team of Jacqueline Juffer, Taryn Collura, Natalie Morris and Guy finished forty-three hundredths of a second ahead of Iowa State with a time of 1:44.60.
The session's second event saw Julia Roller finish seventh in the 400-yard IM for the Huskers. Samantha Hardewig also qualified for the evening's finals, finishing 14th. Both Roller (4:33.60) and Hardewig (4:40.03) swam career-best times, joining three other Huskers who swam season-best times in the event.

In the 100-yard butterfly, Deveaux, Morris and Guy finished first, third and fourth for Nebraska. Deveaux (56.56) and Morris (56.87) swam season-best times in the finals, while Guy (56.35) swam a season best on her way to victory in the prelims. Taryn Collura (57.52) also swam a season-best in the finals, earning seventh.

The 200-yard freestyle saw four Huskers finish in the top 16. Bailey Pons (1:54.59), Morgan Flannigan (1:55.53), Kelly Dunn (1:55.90) and Morris (1:57.29) placed ninth, 10th, 14th and 16th, respectively. For Pons, her finals time marked a season best in the event.

The 100-yard breaststroke saw Nebraska's Guy (1:05.56), Katie Ditter (1:06.71), Kristin Strecker (1:06.08) and Hardewig (1:08.15) finish second, seventh, 10th and 13th, respectively. Strecker set a season-best time in the finals, while Ditter (1:06.57) set a season best in the prelims.

Juffer (56.44), Erin Oeltjen (57.84) and Rebekah Land (58.80) finished second, eighth and 10th and in the session's final individual event, the 100-yard backstroke. Juffer's time was a career best, while Land's was a season best.

The Huskers concluded the day with a fourth-place finish in the 800-yard freestyle relay. Nebraska's squad of Pons, Collura, Flannigan and Morris finished in a time of 7:40.23.
The final day of the Kansas Classic will begin with a preliminary session at 9 a.m. followed by finals at 3 p.m. on Sunday.
Columbia, Mo. - Nicole Schwery dove her way to third place in her first collegiate platform diving competition, leading the Huskers at the final day of the Mizzou Invitational. Schwery posted a score of 238.15, while Kaitlan Walker finished 10th with a score of 203.00.
