Topeka, Kan. - Natalie Morris won the 200-yard butterfly in meet-record time, Taryn Collura took home the 100-yard freestyle crown and the Huskers surged past Iowa State for second place at the Kansas Classic on Sunday afternoon. Nebraska finished the meet with a total of 795.5, outscoring the Cyclones by 35 points.
The final session's first event saw Bailey Pons (17:13.58) and Morgan Flannigan (17:29.94) finish fifth and seventh in the 1,650-yard freestyle for the Huskers. Both Pons and Flannigan swam season-best times, joining Ashleigh Grammar, who swam a season-best 18:17.23 on her way to 12th place in the event. Sophomore Michaela Cunningham finished 14th with a time of 18:32.69.

In the 200-yard backstroke, Nebraska's Erin Oeltjen (2:06.69) and Rebekah Land (2:06.82) took 6th and 8th, respectively. Land's time was a season best in the event. Additionally, Jacqueline Juffer and Megan Ziemann finished 15th and 22nd in the event for the Huskers.

The 100-yard freestyle saw four Huskers finish in the top seven, with Collura (51.18) earning her second victory of the meet. Bria Deveaux (52.33), Alexandra Bilunas (52.42) and Shannon Guy (53.12) took 5th, 6th and 7th. Collura, Bilunas and Guy joined four other Huskers who swam season-best times in the event on Sunday.

Nebraska's Kristin Strecker (2:22.33), Katie Ditter (2:25.57) and Samantha Hardewig (2:26.04) finished fifth, seventh and 11th in the 200-yard breaststroke. Strecker and Hardewig posted season-best times in the finals, while Ditter swam a career-best 2:24.86 in the prelims.

In the meet's final individual event, the 200-yard butterfly, Natalie Morris (2:03.33) and Melisa Mexia (2:07.61) earned the top two spots for the Huskers. For Morris, her time was a season best and a Kansas Classic meet record. Freshman Julia Roller also excelled, finishing 10th in the event.

The Huskers finished the Kansas Classic as strong as they started, earning a victory in the 400-yard freestyle relay. Nebraska's team of Bilunas, Deveaux, Guy and Collura beat second-place Iowa State by nearly two full seconds, finishing in 3:27.43.
Overall, the Huskers won seven of the meet's 18 events, including three of the five relays. Nebraska's top individual performance came from Collura, who won both the 50- and 100-yard freestyles. Collura joined Morgan Sharp of Kansas (200 and 500 Free), Chelsie Miller of Kansas (200 and 400 IM) and Imelda Wistey of Iowa State (100 and 200 Breast) as the meet's only multievent winners.
