Moore Celebrates WNBA Title

By NU Athletic Communications

Lindsey Moore celebrated a WNBA title to cap her first season with the Minnesota Lynx on Thursday night in Atlanta.

The former Husker point guard who was a first-round pick in the 2013 WNBA Draft, jumped for joy on the court at the Gwinnett Center in Duluth, Ga., with her Lynx teammates as time expired. Moore spent the last three seconds of the game on the court after Minnesota battled its way to an 86-77 win to complete a three-game WNBA Finals sweep of the Atlanta Dream.

The Lynx cruised  to a pair of 25-point wins in the first two games of the series in Minneapolis, crushing the Dream 84-59 in the opener before adding an 88-63 win on Tuesday night.

Thursday night's game in Atlanta was a battle for 40 minutes, but the Lynx stayed in control throughout the contest.

Maya Moore led Minnesota with 23 points, while Rebekkah Brunson added 15 points and 12 rebounds to power the Lynx to their second WNBA title in the past three seasons. Maya Moore and Brunson combined for 19 of Minnesota's 26 points in the third quarter, when the Lynx turned a three-point halftime edge into a 10-point cushion heading into the final quarter.

All five of the Minnesota starters finished in double figures for the second straight game, including Lindsay Whalen who produced 15 points and six assists.

Minnesota capped a perfect 7-0 playoff record in 2013. Lindsey Moore played in six of Minnesota's seven playoff games in support of the league's most dominant and balanced starting five.
