Huskers Earn Two Titles at Razorback Spring Invitational

Fayetteville, Ark.- The Nebraska track and field team wrapped up competition at the Razorback Spring Invitational on Saturday with two event titles. Sarah Plambeck won the women’s unseeded 1,500 meters and Levi Gipson won the men’s 400 meters.

In the jumps, Kari Heck finished third in the women’s long jump, recording a leap of 19-4 ¼ (5.90). Kara Mostoller also notched a jump of 18-7 (5.66) and Ellie Ewere posted a jump of 17-9 (5.41). Seth Wiedel posted a third-place finish in the men’s long jump, recording a leap of 24-4 ½ (7.43). Nikita Pankins came in sixth with a leap of 23-8 (7.21), while Teddy Lampkin tallied a leap of 22-5 (6.83).

Wiedel came in eighth in the men’s triple jump with a leap of 46-10 ¾ (14.29).  Ewere finished fourth for the women, posting a jump of 38-7 ¾ (11.78). 

Katie Smith came in second in the women’s high jump, posting a leap of 5-5 (1.65), as Anne Martin also finished sixth with a jump of 5-5 (1.65). Carlos Hernandez finished seventh in the high jump, posting a season-best mark of 6-9 (2.06), as Mitchell Westberry notched a jump of 6-7 (2.01).

Craig Driver recorded a third-place finish in the pole vault, notching a vault of 16-6 ¾ (5.05). Christian Sanderfer posted the same mark for fourth, while Erik Sutterfield was fifth with a vault of 16-0 ¾ (4.90). Beau Simmons took sixth with a mark of 16-0 ¾ (4.90). Tess Merrill posted a third-place finish on the women’s side, recording a mark of 12-1 ½ (3.70). Paula Andrie finished fifth (12-1 ½) and Maggie Maher was eighth (11-7 3/4).

Carlie Pinkelman came in third in the women’s shot put. She posted a season-best throw of 49-3 ½ (15.02). Tristen Sharp notched a throw of 41-8 ¾ (12.72).

Breunna McCarty finished seventh in the women’s 100 meters as she recorded a time of 12.05. Tim Thompson finished fourth on the men’s side with a time of 10.61, while John Welk was fifth with a personal-best time of 10.66.

Mara Weekes finished second in the women’s 200 meters with a time of 23.97, while McCarty was 12th with a time of 25.02. On the men’s side,

Pankins was sixth with a time of 21.49, while Welk was seventh with a time of 21.54 and Tim Thompson posted a time of 21.82 for ninth.

Levi Gipson won the men’s 400 meters with a personal-best time of 46.93. Jake Bender followed his lead as he finished with a time of 49.19. Lexie Oak finished fifth in the women’s 400 meters, recording a time of 56.87.

Shawnice Williams finished fourth in the women’s seeded section of the 800 meters, recording a time of 2:12.86. Jelena Andjekovic finished fifth with a time of 2:14.31, while Morgan Woitzel was eighth with a time of 2:17.50. London Hawk finished third on the men’s side as he posted a time of 1:51.54. Alney Tobias came in eighth with a time of 1:53.93.   

Sarah Plambeck won the women’s 1,500 meters unseeded section. She posted a time of 4:44.80 to take first in the event. Trevor Vidlak came in fourth in the men’s 1,500 meters seeded section, finishing with a time of 3:52.56.

Jourdan Doffeny posted a time of 14.06 to come in fifth in the women’s 100m hurdles. Greta Kerekes notched a time of 14.18 for eighth, while Jordan Stiens posted a time of 14.20 for 10th. Tibor Koroknai finished fifth on the men’s side as he notched a time of 14.20. Sean Pille tabbed a time of 14.66, while Teran Walford finished with a time of 14.75.

Ellie Grooters came in third in the women’s 400 meter hurdles, recording a time of 1:01.42. Mila Andric finished fourth with a time of 1:02.68. Koroknai finished second on the men’s side, posting a time of 51.17. Sanderfer notched a time of 53.51 for eighth and Mark Hilderbrand was 10th with a time of 53.81.

The women’s 4x400 meter relay team of Heck, Williams, Grooters and Weekes finished second with a time of 3:47.09. The men’s team came in third as Bender, Gipson, Hawk and Hilderbrand tallied a time of 3:14.40.

The women’s 4x100 meter relay team of Heck, Weekes, Andric and McCarty finished sixth with a time of 46.93. The men’s team of Welk, Thompson, Pankins and Lampkin finished third with a time of 40.76.
