The NTCA No.2-rated Nebraska women's bowling team completed the qualifying round of the 2014 National Collegiate Women's Bowling Championship this evening at Game of Wickliffe Bowling Center in Cleveland, Ohio. The Huskers compiled a 2-5 record, giving them the sixth overall seed heading into Friday's double-elimination match play.

The Huskers will start Friday mornings competition facing off against third seeded Vanderbilt, a rematch of last year's National Championship Match.

NU opened up Thursday's competition losing a close battle to Vanderbilt, losing the game 1031-1011 behind a valiant effort from freshman Gazmine Mason. Mason had a team high 225 in the match, as returning all-american Liz Kuhlkin bowled a 202.

The Huskers picked up their first win of the day beating Central Missouri 1053-1019 behind three NU bowlers that scored above 200. Kuhlkin led the way scoring a total pinfall of 247, as junior Andrea Ruiz bowled a 217. Sophomore Beth Hedley tallied a 205 total pinfall.

After beating Central Missouri, the Huskers dropped two consecutive games to end the first round of qualifying games.

NU lost to Fairleigh Dickinson University 969-919 in their third game of the day, behind a 201 total pinfall game from Kuhlkin. The Huskers then faced off with top-ranked Arkansas State, losing 1024-1015. Kuhlkin again led the Huskers, scoring a 237 total pinfall.

After a brief intermission, Nebraska opened up the second qualifying round beating Sam Houston State 1019-937. True freshman Briana Zabierek lead the Huskers with a 255 total pinfall in her first game of the day. Despite Zabierek coming in strong off the bench, this would be the last NU victory of the day.

NU then faced Wisconsin-Whitewater losing 1004-975, behind another team leading performance by Zabierek. In her second game, Briana scored a 222 total pinfall. The Huskers finished off the day losing to Maryland Eastern-Shore 1117-852.
