Lincoln, Neb. - The No. 57 Nebraska mens tennis team (9-8) knocked off the Nittany Lion 4-3 for their first conference win of the dual match season. This put their conference record at 1-3. The Huskers will attempt their second conference win this Wednesday when they face Iowa.

Nebraska started strong securing the doubles point with victories at the No.1 and No.2 doubles. The Huskers pair of Andre Stenger and Eric Sock defeated the Nittany Lion's Guanhua Chen and Chris Young 8-5, while NU's Bradford Zitsch and Dusty Boyer beat Penn's states team of Russel Bader and Matt Barry 8-4. This was Andre Stenger and Eric Socks second pairing of the season.  Scott Elsass and Brandon Videtich were ahead at No.3 doubles when the point was decided.

All singles victories came down to the third set's.The first win of the day belonged to Tom Blackwell, his second win of the weekend. He defeated Roman Trkulja in a hard fought battle after splitting sets. The final score was 1-6, 6-3, 6-4. Like Blackwell, Sebastian Florczyk lost the first set, but he was able to come back in the second set. After splitting sets Florczyk defeated C.J. Griffin 6-7, 6-3, 6-1. The outcome at No. 2 singles would determine the winner. This put a lot of pressure on Dusty Boyer. He won the first set against Bryan Welnets 6-4, but fell in the second 4-6. Dusty clinched the match for the Huskers, winning 7-5 in the third set.

"It was good to get out first conference win today", said Coach Kerry McDermott. " Solid performance in doubles today, and that was the difference in the match today. Singles we didnt play a complete match as a team and it showed. The three guys that came through in singles today: Dusty, Tom, and Sebastian showed their teammates that the will to win is a talent iteslef. The match came down to Dusty Boyer, and for a Freshman he is a GAMER (COOL HAND LUKE), and he knows how to win! We have to get ready for Iowa Wednesday, and be ready to battle again."

The Huskers will face Iowa Wednesday, April 3 at 2:30 p.m. at the 17th and Vine st. courts.
