Strong Winds Cancel Second Round in Vegas

By NU Athletic Communications

Las Vegas - Wind gusts in excess of 45 mph throughout Tuesday forced the cancellation of the second round of competition for the Nebraska women's golf team at the Las Vegas Collegiate Showdown.

Steady winds of 30 mph with gusts reaching 45-50 mph kept the 17 teams in the tournament field off the Stallion Mountain Golf Course in Las Vegas.

The tournament will be shortened to 36 holes with the final round set to tee off with a shotgun start on Tuesday at 10 a.m. (CT)/8 a.m. (PT). Live scoring will be available at

The Huskers enter the final round in sixth place after firing a 295 in Sunday's opening round. Sophomore Cassie Deeg heads into Nebraska's final 18 holes of the fall campaign in the hunt for her second tournament title of the season. Deeg sits in a tie for second after shooting a one-under-par 71 in the opening round. She began the fall by winning her first collegiate title at Nebraska's Chip-N Club Invitational at Wilderness Ridge.
