Saturday Softball Game Postponed
Lincoln – Saturday’s scheduled softball game between Nebraska and Northwestern has been postponed due to cold temperatures. Per Big Ten Conference policy, the “RealFeel” temperature must be 28 degrees in order for a game to start, and temperatures were in the mid-20s early this afternoon and expected to drop quickly into the mid-teens.
The Huskers and Wildcats will try to play the third and final game of their conference-opening series on Sunday at Noon, weather permitting. The forecast calls for temperatures to again fall below the 28-degree threshold on Sunday, while the Lincoln area is expected to receive 1-4 inches of snow Saturday night through Sunday afternoon. An update on the status of Sunday’s game will be posted on Huskers.com as soon as it becomes available. Fans with a ticket to Saturday’s game can use that ticket for general-admission seating into any future regular-season Husker softball game this season. General admission seating does include chairback seats in section 102.
In anticipation of the inclement weekend weather, Nebraska and Northwestern played a doubleheader on Friday. The Huskers rallied from a four-run deficit to defeat the Wildcats, 5-4, in eight innings in game one. In game two, Nebraska scored eight runs in the first inning and six more in the third, producing the second-most runs in a conference game in school history in a 14-2, five-inning victory.
