Three current Nebraska bowlers have recently found success not only on the international level but here in the United States in the past three weeks. Freshman Alexandra Mosquera won the Masters champions in the girls U-20 division at the 2013 PABCON Youth Championships in Caribe in Ponce, Puerto Rico July 12.
Juniors Elise Bolton and NTCA All-American Liz Kuhlkin also left their stamp this offseason by earning a spot on Junior Team USA after a tournament at the 2013 North Pointe Junior Gold Championships held in Detroit July 19.
Mosquera, a native of Armenia, Colombia beat out Puerto Rican star Kristie Lopez in the championship match of the Masters division 2-1. The Colombian native won the first game 234-174, lost the second game 221-148 and then cruised to the title with a 222-175 win in the final game.
At the North Pointe Junior Gold Championships, the top two players in the U20 boys and girls divisions after 25 games of qualifying earned automatic spots on Junior Team USA in 2014. Kuhlkin, a native of Rotterdam, N.Y., earned her coveted spot on the team, while Bolton, a member of Junior Team USA was selected to the team after the tournament concluded.
