Huskers Seeded No. 2 in Morgantown Regional

The eighth-ranked Nebraska women's gymnastics team has earned the No. 2 seed in the NCAA Morgantown Regional, the NCAA announced on Monday. The regional, which will be hosted by West Virginia University, will take place on Saturday, April 6 at 5 p.m. CT (6 p.m. ET).

The Morgantown Regional will feature some familiar faces for the 2013 Big Ten Champion Huskers, with a pair of conference teams joining NU in competition. No. 5 Michigan earned the competition's top seed, while No. 17 Illinois took the No. 3 seed overall. No. 19 Kentucky, West Virginia and North Carolina will round out the regional field.

"We're excited to be going to regionals and to be competing in Morgantown," Head Coach Dan Kendig said. "It'll be fun and the girls are excited to be heading to a new gym to compete. We're looking forward to getting out there and competing and doing what we need to do to qualify for the NCAA Championships."

Nebraska will work a familiar rotation at the Morgantown Regional, drawing the same order as they competed in at the Big Ten Championships last weekend. NU will open on a bye before competing on bars and beam. The Huskers will take a second bye before closing competition on floor and vault.

The top two teams at the regional and the top two all-around performers not on an advancing team will claim an automatic berth to the 2013 NCAA Championships in Los Angeles, Calif., on April 19-21. Individual event winners not on a qualifying team or qualifying as an all-around competitor will also advance to the national championships.

The Huskers will carry momentum into competition after winning the program's 23rd conference title last weekend in East Lansing, Mich. Nebraska posted a 197.800 to top seven Big Ten teams to claim their third consecutive conference championship. The squad took home a total of nine titles on four events and in the all-around, led by Emily Wong's second-straight Big Ten all-around title.

Advance tickets for the Morgantown Regional are $12 each and can be purchased online at WVUGame.com or by calling the Mountaineer Ticket Office at 1-800-WVU-GAME.
