Iowa City, Iowa – The Nebraska men’s golf team shot 587 over two rounds on Saturday at the Hawkeye-Great River Entertainment Invitational and sit in fourth place with 18 holes to play.
The Huskers opened with 290 before a second-round 297 at Finkbine Golf Course, a par-72, 7,239-yard layout. NU’s 11-over-par total trails tournament leader Kansas by 11 strokes. Iowa is in second place at 584 and Minnesota is in third with 586 strokes.
Junior Matt Record paced the Huskers with an even-par day and is tied for sixth heading into the final round. In the first round, Record made three birdies but double bogeyed the par-3 17th hole for a 1-under-par 71. He added two birdies and three bogeys in the second round en route to a 1-over-par 73.
Jordan Reinertson carded four birdies and four bogeys for an opening-round 72. In the afternoon, he eagled the par-5 sixth hole to go along with two birdies, three bogeys and two double bogeys for a 3-over-par 75. The Gibbon, Neb., native’s 147 total puts him in a tie for 13th.
Manuel Lavin is tied for 17th after posting 148 over the first 36 holes. The junior made one birdie and four bogeys en route to a first-round 75. In the second round, Lavin added one birdie and one double bogey for a 73.
Freshman Kolton Lapa opened with an even-par 72, which included four birdies, two bogeys and one double bogey. In the second round, he made eight bogeys en route to an 80, giving him a 152 total. Lapa is tied for 37th heading into Sunday’s final round.
Neil Dufford is tied for 45th at 154 strokes over two rounds. Dufford made one birdie in the first round and added five bogeys and one double bogey for a 78. In the afternoon, he added one birdie as well as three bogeys and one double bogey for a 76.
