Huskers Climb to Ninth in French Lick

French Lick, Ind. – The Nebraska men’s golf team shot 301 in Saturday’s third round at the Big Ten Championships and sit in ninth place with 18 holes to play.

The Huskers’ 909 total through 54 holes is 39 shots off the pace, which is set by Illinois. On Friday, NU carded 311 in the first round and 297 in the second round.

Jordan Reinertson led the Husker effort in the third round at the Pete Dye Course, a par-72, 7,152-yard layout. The senior from Gibbon, Neb., made four birdies and six bogeys for a 2-over-par 74 on Saturday. He is tied for 20th with 225 strokes over three rounds.

Kolton Lapa posted a 7-over-par 79 in the third round, which included one birdie, six bogeys and one double bogey. The freshman opened Friday with a 77 before carding a 73 in the afternoon. His 229 total places him in a tie for 37th.

Junior Matt Record is one stroke behind Lapa at 230 through three rounds. Record used one birdie and five bogeys en route to a third-round 76. He shot 76 and 78 on Friday and sits in a tie for 39th.

Neil Dufford made two birdies, four bogeys and a double bogey on Saturday for a 4-over-par 76. The senior is tied for 47th at 232 strokes through three rounds. Manuel Lavin managed one birdie and four bogeys for a 75 in the third round. The junior produced rounds of 80 and 81 on Friday for a 236 total, which places him in a tie for 55th.

Sunday’s final round starts at 8 a.m. The Huskers will go off the 10th hole starting at 8:40 a.m., alongside Penn State. Live scoring is available on Golfstat.com at http://www.golfstatresults.com//public/index.cfm?tournament_id=4240.
