The Nebraska track and field team continued competition at the Kansas Relays in Lawrence, Kan., on Thursday. Jourdan Doffeny led the way in the multi-events as she recorded a second-place finish in the heptathlon with 4,629 points. Maggie Malone finished fifth with 4,369 points.
Doffeny started the final day of heptathlon action with a leap of 17-0 (5.18) in the long jump. She then recorded a personal-best throw of 109-8 (33.43) in the javelin and a time of 2:35.10 in the 800 meters.
Malone posted a leap of 17-0 ¾ (5.20) in the long jump to complete her first event of the day. She went on to post an event-best throw of 126-3 (38.48) in the javelin and recorded a time of 2:34.82 in the 800 meters.
In other events on Thursday, Jacob Griess finished 11th in the men’s hammer throw, posting a mark of 171-7 (52.30). Cole ingram recorded a throw of 170-1 (51.84). Veronica Grizzle led the way for the women with an eighth place finish and a throw of 182-11 (55.75).
Nolan Border notched a third-place finish in the men’s 800 meters unseeded section as he finished with a time of 1:55.21. Morgan Woitzel finished ninth in the women’s 800 meters unseeded section, posting a time of 2:21.24, while Anna Minnick finished with a time of 2:22.52.
In the women’s 1,500 meters unseeded section Sarah Plambeck posted a time of 4:48.14 to finish eighth. Isabel Andrade tallied an eighth-place finish and a time of 37:52.91 in the women’s 10,000 meters as Hannah Edwards also recorded a time of 39:32.61.
