Lincoln - Nebraska senior defender Ari Romero was named a First Team All-American by College Sports Madness on Monday. The Big Ten Defender of the Year and Defensive Player of the Big Ten Tournament is one of the leaders on the back line for the 10th-ranked Huskers.

Romero, the Surprise, Ariz. native, leads the NU outfield players in minutes averaging more than 90 per match. The First Team All-Big Ten selection has guided the Scarlet and Cream to seven shutouts allowing just one goal per contest against quality opponents.

A member of the Mexican National Team, Romero missed just one match this season to start for Mexico against the United States in a September friendly in Washington D.C.
