Huskers Come Up Short Against Hoosiers
Bloomington, Ind.- The No. 58 Nebraska mens tennis team (10-9) was defeated by No. 69 Indiana (14-10) Sunday, April 7, at the IU Varsity Courts. The Hoosiers managed a 6-1 win over the Huskers. This puts Nebraska's conference record at 2-5. The Huskers faced three conference opponents this week, including Iowa, Purdue, Indiana. Nebraska defeated Iowa at home, before heading to Indiana. Two days later the Huskers suffered a 7-0 sweep at the hands of No. 63 Purdue.
Nebraska struggled in doubles play, with losses at No. 2 and 3 doubles. First NU's pair of Bradford Zitsch and Dusty Boyer were defeated by Josh MacTaggart and Daniel Bednarczyk 8-5. Then the point was decided after Scott Elsass and Brandon Videtich lost to Dimitrije Tasic and Chris Essick by the same score of 8-5. NU's top doubles pair of Eric Sock and Andre Stenger faced Indiana's ranked pair, #28 Isade Juneau and Sam Monette. The score was 7-6 Indiana when the point was decided.
In singles play the Huskers managed one victory at No. 4 singles. The Huskers Marc Herrmann won a hard fought battle over the Hoosiers Dimitrije Tasic 6-4, 5-7, 1-0 (10-8). Playing for the first time at No. 1 singles, Dusty Boyer came close to knocking off Josh MacTaggart, but fell short in the tiebreaker losing 6-4, 6-7, 1-0 (10-8).
"This was a tough weekend", said Coach Kerry McDermott. "The team will need to learn from this weekends matches and move on. At this point in the season its about finding ways to win and keeping positive when things aren't going your way".

The Huskers will return to Lincoln for a week of practice before facing Michigan and Michigan State at home. The match against Michigan will take place Friday, April 12 at 4 p.m. at the 17th and Vine St. Courts. The match against Michigan State will take place at Noon on Sunday, April 14, at the 17th and Vine St. Courts.
