The National Association of Collegiate Gymnastics Coaches/Women’s (NACGC/W) announced their 2013 Scholastic All-American award winners in both the team and individual categories with seven Huskers earning a spot on the list. The recipients were recognized for a year-long or cumulative GPA of 3.5 or higher through the 2012-2013 season.
All four classes were represented as seniors Janelle Giblin, Kassandra Nathe, junior Emily Wong, sophomores Amanda and Jennifer Lauer, Kailyn Hawkins and freshman Hollie Blanske all earned accolades for their efforts in the classroom.
Kassandra Nathe earned her fourth Scholastic All-American with a GPA of 3.55. Sisters Amanda Lauer and Jennifer Lauer earned an impressive 4.0 and 3.9 in their nutrition sciences major. Janelle Giblin and Kailyn Hawkins both earned their second honor, and freshman Hollie Blanske earned her first with a GPA of 3.52. Emily Wong who recently added an Academic All-American award to her list earns her third Scholastic All-American award with a 3.93 GPA in her nutrition science studies.
525 women gymnasts across the country in all three NCAA divisions hit the 3.5 benchmark this past year. As a team, Nebraska increased their team GPA from 3.29 to 3.362
