Huskers Head to Big Ten Tournament

Columbus, Ohio- The No. 72 Huskers (10-14) have reached the end of the dual season with a loss to No. 62 Wisconsin 6-1 Sunday, next the Nebraska men's tennis team will travel to Columbus, Ohio for the Big Ten Championships Thursday, April 25 to Sunday, April 28 at Ohio State University's Varsity Tennis Center.

The Huskers finished the season with a 10-14 record for the second consecutive year, and will be aiming for a consecutive first round victory in the Big Ten Championships to match last years. This will be only the second time the Huskers compete in the Big Ten Tournament.   

No. 72 NU enters the tournament as the tenth seed and will face No. 7 seed No. 45 Michigan State in the first round on Thursday, April 25 at 1:30 p.m.  The Huskers secured the No. 10 seed after winning the head-to-head tiebreaker over the Nittany Lions. If the Huskers advance, they will take on second-seeded Minnesota on Friday at 1:30 p.m.

Ohio State earned the outright Big Ten title, finishing a perfect 11-0 in conference and 28-2 overall. It is the Buckeyes' 8th consecutive Big Ten Championship.


After finishing the regular season 5-5, the Huskers entered last year's tournament as the ninth seed and defeated the eight-seeded Wisconsin Badgers, 4-0 in the first round. NU faced top seeded Ohio State in the second round, falling 0-4.


In the regular season dual match in Lincoln, the Huskers fell 5-2 to the Spartans. The Spartans notched the doubles point and four singles matches. With a win on Thursday, the Huskers would face No. 2 seed Minnesota in the second round on Firday. The Gophers earned a narrow 5-2 victory in during the dual season, in a match that came down to two singles matches.
