NU Heads to Kansas City for Mizzou Invite

By NU Athletic Communications

The Nebraska women's tennis team hits the road to play in the Mizzou Tennis Invite at the University of Missouri in Kansas City, Mo. from Friday to Sunday Sept. 20-22. The ITA sanctioned event will be held at the Plaza Tennis Center and will host Missouri, Nebraska, Princeton, and Oklahoma State.

The Huskers will take their whole squad to participate in the event. This weekend looks to be the first action for freshmen Hannah Sulz, Lisa Andersson, and Katerina Matysova to begin their careers at Nebraska. Fellow newcomers Mary Hanna and Brittany Brewster began theirs this past weekend.

The Huskers come up against some ITA pre-season ranked opponents this weekend from all three foes. Princeton presents two ranked singles players in No. 107 sophomore Amanda Muliawan and No. 120 junior Lindsay Graff. Mizzou coughs up some ranked members singles No. 72 Cierra Gaytan-Leach and doubles No. 43-tied Gaytan-Leach and Elisha Gabb. Oklahoma State affords one ranked duo No. 47 Kanyapat Narattana and Carla Tur Mari.

The invite will have both singles and doubles play, but it will not be a true tournament format. Instead, two teams will play each other in either singles or doubles each day. After all play is completed and everyone has played each other in both doubles and singles at the end of the tournament, each flight winner will be selected based on best record.

See the schedule below to see what time, and which team, the Huskers will play in both singles and doubles each day.

Play begins Friday morning at 9 a.m. with doubles action, followed by the singles matches later in the day. Results from the matches will be posted here on Huskers.com concluding play when made available.
