Huskers Ranked 18th in USA Today Coaches Poll

Lincoln – The Nebraska football team is ranked 18th in the USA TODAY Sports preseason Coaches Poll released Thursday morning. The Huskers, coming off a 10-4 season and a berth in the Big Ten title game in 2012, received a total of 426 points in voting by 62 coaches from around the nation.

The Huskers were one of five Big Ten teams ranked in the preseason poll, joining Ohio State (2nd), Michigan (17th), Northwestern (22nd) and Wisconsin (23rd). In addition, Michigan State was among the other programs receiving votes.

This season, the Huskers will take on Michigan, Northwestern and Michigan State as well as non-conference foe UCLA, which was ranked 21st in the poll.

Nebraska returns 12 starters and 41 letterwinners for the start of practice on Monday, Aug. 5. Fans will have their first opportunity to see the 2013 Huskers on Friday afternoon, as the Huskers host Nebraska Football Fan Day presented by U.S. Cellular at Memorial Stadium from 2-3:30 p.m.
