NU Hosts No. 52-ranked Denver
The No. 59 Huskers welcome No. 52-ranked Denver to the Nebraska Tennis Center on Saturday, Feb. 8 at 1 p.m. in a non-conference dual match. The Huskers sit at 2-2 overall going 1-1 at the ITA Kick-off Weekend event in Los Angeles where they were able to grab a 4-1 victory over fellow Big Ten members Wisconsin.
During the ITA Kick-off event, Nebraska duo Marc Herrmann and Beau Treyz secured a win over No. 33 ranked Hugo Dojas and Maxime Hinnisdaels of Texas Tech. The Nebraska pair has impressed this season with their outstanding 11-3 overall and 3-1 spring showing, as well as becoming the Big Ten Indoors Championships tournament doubles champions during the fall preseason.
Senior Tom Blackwell holds an undefeated 3-0 mark in singles this spring, and has played no doubles matches. The Huskers are 1-2 against ranked opponents suffering losses to No. 36 Florida State and No. 53 Texas Tech before toppling No. 66 Wisconsin in a non-conference neutral-site match. The only freshman to make a mark this spring so far is Vasileios Stavropoulos, who holds a 1-1 singles record.
Huskers In The ITA National Rankings
Nebraska jumped in the ITA Top 75 after its 2-2 start to the season. The national ITA Top 75 rankings were released on Tuesday, Feb. 4. The Huskers moved up a spot after defeating fellow Big Ten foes Wisconsin at the ITA Kick-off event.
The Big Red are one of 11 Big Ten teams in the ITA Top 75. Nebraska is joined by No. 5 Ohio State, No. 22 Illinois, No. 30 Northwestern, No. 31 Michigan, No. 39 Minnesota, No. 50 Michigan State, No. 57 Indiana, No. 58 Penn State, No. 70 Wisconsin and No. 75 Purdue. The Huskers are the ninth-highest ranked Big Ten team.

The No. 52 Pioneers are 3-1 with a victories over Air Force and BYU before coming to Nebraska to face the No. 59 Huskers. Denver went 12-12-1 overall in 2013 with a tie against Idaho in conference play. DU is ranked No. 52 with one ranked singles players in No. 86 Henry Craig and no ranked doubles pairs.
Following the match against Dever, Nebraska welcomes Louisville and Creighton to the Nebraska Tennis Center on Saturday, Feb. 15 at 10 a.m. and 7 p.m. respectively followed by a two-match road trip on Feb. 22-23 to face UAB and Georgia State.
