Eight Huskers Qualify for Finals in Session Four

Minneapolis, Minn. - Three Huskers earned NCAA B cuts and eight qualified for finals as the Nebraska swimming and diving team completed the fourth session of the Big Ten Championships on Friday morning at the University of Minnesota Aquatic Center. The Huskers competed in the preliminary rounds of the 400-yard IM, 100-yard butterfly, 200-yard freestyle, 100-yard breaststroke and 100-yard backstroke. 

In the morning's first event, Julia Roller finished the 400 IM in a career-best 4:22.50 to earn a spot in Friday evening's C final. Michaela Cunningham also swam a career best in the event.

The session's second event saw Taryn Collura, Shannon Guy and Bria Deveaux finish 15th, 17th and 19th en route to earning NCAA B cuts. Collura's career-best 54.07 garnered a spot in Friday evening's B final, while Guy and Deveaux claimed spots in the C final.

In the 200-yard freestyle preliminaries, Bailey Pons finished 35th with a season-best time of 1:50.00. Fellow senior Morgan Flannigan set a career best with a time of 1:50.44, finishing 39th.

Katie Ditter, Samantha Hardewig and Shannon Guy earned spots in the evening's C Final, placing 18th, 20th and 23rd in the 100-yard breaststroke. Ditter and Hardewig swam respective career bests 1:02.93 and 1:03.13 for the Huskers.

In the session's final event, Rebekah Land swam a career-best 55.19 to earn a spot in the C final of the 100-yard backstroke. The junior's time moved her to fourth on Nebraska's all-time list.

Erin Oeltjen and Megan Ziemann also recorded career bests in the event for the Huskers, finishing in 31st and 49th, respectively.
