Lincoln – Four members of the Nebraska soccer program, including a pair of standouts from the Huskers’ 2013 Big Ten Championship team, are expected to graduate on Saturday. Stacy Bartels (Omaha, Neb.), Kylie Greichar (Overland Park, Kan.), Ashley Hick (Omaha, Neb.) and Amy Swearer (Lincoln, Neb.) are among 55 student-athletes who will receive their degrees during commencement ceremonies at Pinnacle Bank Arena.
Bartels was a key component for the Huskers in her career, appearing in 83 career matches and totaling 65 career starts. She had 15 goals, including seven as a sophomore, and 11 assists during her Husker career. As a senior, she played in all 24 matches, including 19 starters, totaling two goals and a pair of assists for the Big Ten Champions. She was a three-time Academic All-Big Ten selection and was a five-time member of the Nebraska Student-Athlete Honor Roll and will receive her degree in elementary education.
Greichar spent three seasons at Nebraska after transferring from Indiana State. As a senior, she started all 24 matches as the Huskers went 19-4-1 in 2013. She scored the game-clinching goal against Indiana in the Big Ten semifinals, and helped Nebraska allow just 1.08 goals per game. In the classroom, she was a Big Ten Distinguished Scholar and Academic All-Big Ten selection in 2013 and will graduate with a degree in communication studies.
A native of Omaha, Hick played two seasons at Nebraska (2010-11), earning Academic All-Big Ten honors in 2011. She will graduate with a degree in psychology
Swearer who is from Lincoln, was a member of the soccer program for three seasons and played in four matches as a reserve goalkeeper. She earned his first career win against Cincinnati during the 2012. In the classroom, Swearer, who will graduate with a degree in Criminology & Criminal Justice, was a two-time Academic All-Big Ten selection and a seven-time member of the honor roll as a Husker.
