Lincoln - Nebraska's Katelyn Wright and Cassie Deeg were named Big Ten Co-Women's Golfers of the Week, when the conference office announced its award winners on Wednesday.
Wright, a senior from Incline Village, Nev., and Deeg, a sophomore from Hugo, Minn., tied for second individually while leading the Huskers to a tournament title at the 15-team Mountain View Collegiate, March 28-29 in Tucson, Ariz.
Wright produced the best tournament finish and score (213) of her collegiate career, while Deeg matched her career-best tournament score (213).
Wright fired rounds of 71, 72 and 70, while Deeg produced rounds of 72, 70 and 71 to lead the Huskers to a three-round team tournament score of 874.
The award was Deeg's third Big Ten Golfer-of-the-Week honor of the year and her career. She claimed her first award after opening the season with medalist honors in leading the Big Red to the Chip-N Club Tournament title, Sept. 9-10 at Wilderness Ridge in Lincoln. She added her second weekly award on Oct. 30, 2013, after tying for fifth at the Las Vegas Collegiate Showdown.
It is also Wright's second career Big Ten Golfer-of-the-Week award, following her selection on Oct. 11, 2012.
Wright and Deeg lead the Huskers to the SMU/Dallas Athletic Club Invitational this weekend. Tee times begin on Friday, April 4 at 8 a.m. at the Dallas Athletic Club. Live scoring will be available at www.GolfStat.com.
