Huskers Finish Day One in Fifth Place

After one day of competition, the Nebraska rifle team is in fifth place at the NCAA Championships in Murray, Ky.

The team competed in smallbore on Friday and finished with a team score of 2,313.  Sophomore Denise Martin led the way for the Huskers with a score of 586.  Freshmen Lauren Phillips and Rachel Martin also gave the Huskers a strong start with scores of 579 each.  ReAnn Wilson and Kelsey Hansen both helped the team with scores of 569.

Air rifle competition will take place on Saturday and is set to begin at 8 a.m.

West Virginia heads into Saturday in first place with a score of 2,338 followed by the University of Alaska and the University of Memphis.  In fourth place is the University of Kentucky.  In sixth place is Texas Christian University followed by Jacksonville State University and the United States Military Academy.
