Four members men’s gymnasts represented Nebraska at the 2014 Men’s National Qualifier in Colorado Springs, Colo., July 17-20, 2014.
Junior Ethan Lottman, sophomores Travis Gollott and Chris Stephenson and incoming freshman Kyle King each represented Nebraska during the competition.
Lottman participated in the first day of competition on July 19, competing on floor, pommel horse and high bar. He posted a 13.300 on pommel horse to take 14th place.
Gollott competed in four events at the qualifier, including floor, pommel horse, parallel bars and high bar. On the first day of competition, the sophomore placed 12th on floor with a 14.600 and added a 14th-place finish on parallel bars with a 13.750.
Stephenson, a sophomore transfer to the Husker program, also competed on floor, pommel horse and parallel bars on day one. He notched a 13.700 on parallel bars, tying him for 15th.
King, an incoming freshman who signed with the Huskers earlier this summer, completed in the junior division in the all-around. King finished 18th on pommel horse with a 12.500 on his way to 23rd in the all-around standings at the end of the first day of competition.
During day two of the competition on July 20, King shined in the all-around. The Mesquite, Texas native finished with a 126.700 after both days of competition, earning a fourth-place finish overall in the junior division.
King’s score earned him a spot at the 2014 P&G Championships held in Pittsburgh, Pa., Aug. 21-24. King is one of 42 gymnasts to qualifiy for the P&G Championships in the junior division. The senior division is made up of 36 competitors.
