Record Ties for 20th at Big Ten Championships

French Lick, Ind. – The Nebraska men’s golf team fired its best score of the Big Ten Championships in the final round with 6-over-par 294 at the Pete Dye Course at French Lick Resort on Sunday.

Senior Matt Record led the Huskers individually with a tie for 20th at 15-over-par 303. Starting on Hole No. 10, Record made three bogeys on his first nine for 39 before birdieing Nos. 5 and 6 on his second nine en route to even-par 36.

Record’s final-round 75 marks his best score of the 72-hole tournament after three 76s over the first two days. The Scottsdale, Ariz., native earns his third top-20 finish of the season, all of which he has collected in his last four starts.

Calvin Freeman also posted a final-round 75 at the par-72, 7,152-yard layout. His lone birdie on Sunday came on the par-5 seventh hole. Freeman, a junior from Table Rock, Neb., posted 306 for the tournament to tie for 31st.

Junior Josh Reinertson finished 44th with a 21-over-par 309 total in French Lick. The Gibbon, Neb., native made birdies on Holes 14 and 3 en route to a 7-over-par 79 in the final round. On Friday, Reinertson opened with a pair of 75s before adding 80 on Saturday.

Ross Dickson fired the best Husker score of the tournament with 1-under-par 71 on Sunday. The junior birdied the 13th hole before making bogey on No. 16 to post a back-nine score of 36. On the front nine, Dickson birdied No. 6 and added eight pars for a total of 35. Dickson, the only Husker to start every tournament this season, tied for 46th with 24-over-par 312.

Senior Manuel Lavin also managed his best round of the tournament on Sunday, carding 1-over-par 73. He used birdies on Nos. 15 and 7 at the Pete Dye Course. Lavin’s four-round total of 322 earned him a 59th-place finish at the Big Ten Championships.

As a team, the Huskers shot 72-over-par 1,224 over 72 holes to finish 11th at the conference tournament. Nebraska posted scores of 309, 306 and 315 in the first three rounds. Minnesota captured the team title, edging runner-up Illinois by four strokes with a 1,186 total.
