Since their last meeting with the Huskers, No. 1 Oklahoma continued on a path of success throughout their regular season. The team won four straight meets after the Rocky Mountain Open. The Sooners experienced their first loss on Feb. 14 to No. 2 Stanford at the Metroplex Challenge.
Oklahoma has not seen team competition since their loss, due to the 2014 Winter Cup, followed by a bye week. OU junior Alec Robin tied with Stanford gymnast Eddie Penev for the floor title at the Winter Cup. There were nine past and present Oklahoma gymnasts to compete in the final night at the event.
