Petteway Rated Among Nationís Best

Lincoln – Husker junior Terran Petteway was recognized as one of the top small forwards in the country by Mike DeCourcy of the Sporting News on Friday. The 6-foot-6 wing was ranked as the No. 2 small forward in the country by the publication.

Petteway put together one of the best seasons by a Husker newcomer in 2013-14, as he averaged 18.1 points, 4.8 rebounds and 1.6 assists per game. He was a first-team All-Big Ten performer – NU’s first unanimous first-team all-conference pick since 1999 – and led the Big Ten in scoring. Petteway reached double figures 30 times in 32 games, including a pair of 30-point contests, in helping Nebraska to its first NCAA Tournament appearance since 1998.

He had a career-high 35 point game – the most by a Husker since 2008 – against Minnesota on Jan. 26, and had 30 points against UMass on Nov. 21. He had many of his best games against NU’s toughest opponents, averaging 20.8 points and 4.9 rebounds in 12 games against top-50 RPI teams.

Petteway was of four Big Ten small forwards among the top-10 players at the position entering 2014-15, joining Branden Dawson (Michigan State), Caris LeVert (Michigan) and Sam Dekker (Wisconsin).

Petteway is one of five returning starters for the Huskers in 2014-15, as Nebraska returns over 80 percent of its scoring and its top-five rebounders from last season.
