Tortola, British Virgin Islands -The British Virgin Islands team suffered its first loss in the FIBA Caribbean Basketball Championships, falling to US Virgin Islands, 89-60, Thursday evening

Leslee Smith played just eight minutes in the loss, scoring six points, grabbing five rebounds and blocking a shot, as his team finished in second place in pool play. The US Virgin Islands took control early, scoring the first 11 points of the contest and took a 20-7 lead after the first period of action.

Through three games, Smith is averaging 7.7 points and 4.3 rebounds per game. The British Virgin Islands will take on the Bahamas in Friday’s second semifinal, which is set for 8 p.m. (central).
