Kristie Bilecky did not appear in any matches during the 1996-97 season, but was rewarded for her excellence in the classroom by earning honorable-mention academic All-Big 12 accolades.
In her first year with the Huskers, Bilecky played No. 5 and 6 singles and No. 2 and 3 doubles. Bilecky posted a 5-15 record during the spring, with all five wins coming at the No. 5 position. On the doubles court, she paired with both Lara Botts and Michelle Waldhauser to notch a 2-11 doubles mark in the spring. Both of Bilecky's victories came when paired with Botts, as the duo posted a .500 record of 2-2 at No. 2 doubles.
Bilecky spent her freshman and sophomore years playing tennis at Cal State-Sacramento Junior College. Bilecky earned the school's Student-Athlete Award during her sophomore season. During her time at Vanden High School, Bilecky garnered all-conference honors two times and was ranked as a top 20 junior by the Northern California Tennis Association.
Kristie is the daughter of Jerry and Monica Bilecky of Vacaville, Calif., and is an education major.
