Cathy Liptak played sparingly in her sophomore season after medically redshirting the prior year. Liptak appeared in two singles matches, winning one and losing one at No. 4 singles. In doubles play, Liptak lost the only match she competed in, pairing with Annie Yang at the No. 2 spot.
1994-95: Medical Redshirt
Following a 6-4 fall campaign, Liptak was hampered by a shoulder injury and was forced to sit out the rest of the season.
Liptak finished her freshman year with a 14-12 record (5-3 in the Big Eight) at the No. 2 singles position. While teamed with Annie Yang at the No. 2 doubles spot, they earned a 13-6 record.
At Bishop Miege High School, Liptak was a two-time class 5A Kansas State High School tennis champion. She was rated in the top five of the Missouri Valley Region and qualified for several national tournaments. During her last two seasons, Liptak earned an impressive 57-2 high school record.
A native of Shawnee, Kan., Cathy is the daugher of Richard and Susan Liptak and is majoring in both English and political science.
