1993-94: Freshman
Alison McNellis saw plenty of action coming in as a freshman, competing in 22 singles matches during the spring. After a shaky 1-5 start in the fall, McNellis stepped up to deliver a 9-7 record in the spring. She played her first five matches of the spring at No. 6 singles, producing an impressive 4-1 record, before moving up to the No. 4 and 5 positions for the remainder of the year. McNellis compiled a 3-5 mark at No. 4 singles and a record of 2-1 at the No. 5 spot. McNellis was one of the top doubles players for NU, pairing with Michelle Waldhauser and fellow freshman April Yarmus. McNellis and Waldhauser teamed up for the first match of the spring, a loss at the No. 2 spot, then played the rest of the season with Yarmus. The tandem went on to produce a 7-8 record during the spring, with all but one of their matches coming at No. 1 doubles.
